Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 25, 2022: The World Judo Tour has another port of call, the Dushanbe Grand Prix in Tajikistan.

In Abu Dhabi, the President of the International Judo Federation, Marius Vizer, signed the agreement with the President of the Tajikistan Judo Federation, Nurullo Loiqov. The initial deal is for four years from 2023-2026.

The IJF President said: “The event will be an unbeatable opportunity to promote a country and a region that loves judo and that treasures top-level athletes."

Mr Loiqov added: “We have been waiting for this moment for many years. Judo is the number one sport in my country and we want to bring the best stars here. We are a people of warriors and judo is our passion.”

President Loiqov thanked the Mayor of Dushanbe, Rustami Emomali, for his support. “Without his support we would not be here today. The investment is important and the Dushanbe City Council will bear most of the cost, so it is only fair to pay tribute to our greatest supporters.”

Tajikistan proposes October as the tour stop but dates have not been decided for the 2023-2026 cycle.
