Hangzhou Asian Games mascots introduce Zhejiang culture in Japan

Shizuoka, Japan, November 23, 2022: The Hangzhou Asian Games mascots played a major role in celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan at an event in Shizuoka prefecture.

Entitled “Picturesque Zhejiang – Meeting at Mount Fuji”, the event was part of a culture and tourism exchange series.

It took place on November 17 and also served to greet the 19th Asian Games, which will take place in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, from September 23 to October 8, 2023. 

Around 100 people attended, including sports, culture and tourism representatives and embassy officials from both sides of the exchange series.

Chinese and Japanese representatives expressed their congratulations on friendly exchanges between the two countries for 50 years and hoped to establish closer cooperation in the future.

At the launch ceremony, the three mascots of the Hangzhou Asian Games were exchanged with Japanese cartoon characters to commemorate the friendly relations between Zhejiang and Shizuoka.

In the following three days, the mascots of the Asian Games were invited by Shizuoka to participate in th "Picturesque Zhejiang" tour activity so as to maintain the friendly relations leading up to the Asian Games.
