Hangzhou, China, November 21, 2022: There was good news for sports lovers and athletes in the Asian Games host city of Hangzhou when the 2022 Hangzhou Marathon was held on Sunday, November 20.
The race attracted 35,000 runners and covered the full marathon distance of 42.195 km.
It started from the Huanglong (Yellow Dragon) Sports Centre at 7.30am and finished at the Big Lotus – main stadium for the 19th Asian Games to be held from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
Huanglong Sports Centre will host football in the main stadium, gymnastics in the main hall and water polo in the aquatics centre during the Asian Games, while the Big Lotus will host the opening and closing ceremony as well as the athletics competition.
Su Guoxiong claimed the men's title by finishing in 2:13.24 and Wang Min won the women's event in 2:33.47.
In another notable achievement, Yang Xiaojun from Jinhua broke the record for a marathon runner from Zhejiang province by clocking 2:22.11.
