Kuwait City, Kuwait, November 14, 2022: The Olympic Council of Asia’s Gender Equity Seminar in Bahrain last month takes centre stage in the latest edition of the OCA newsletter, Sporting Asia.
The OCA’s first Gender Equity Seminar took place in Manama, Bahrain on October 30-31 and attracted representatives from 42 National Olympic Committees along with presenters from the International Olympic Committee, United Nations, UNESCO and the Red Cross, among other organisations.
The Chair of the OCA Gender Equity Seminar, Sheikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, described the seminar as a “new era” for the OCA in terms of pushing for gender equity in all aspects of the Olympic sports movement in Asia.
Elsewhere in the new Sporting Asia, for December 2022, there are eight pages of reports and photos from the 41st OCA General Assembly in Cambodia on October 4, when Saudi Arabia was awarded the Asian Winter Games in 2029.
The OCA Development Youth Camp returned in August in Kuala Lumpur with the focus on diving, and athletes and coaches this time were joined by diving judges in an innovative format.
There are also reports from the ANOC General Assembly in Seoul, where ANOC elected a new President and Senior Vice President along with five Asian members on the Executive Council.
Asia dominated the ANOC Awards, too, winning Best Female Athlete and Best Male Athlete from the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics along with Outstanding NOC.
