Jakarta, Indonesia, November 8, 2022: The Indonesia Olympic Committee has completed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for sports cooperation and exchange with the Hungarian Olympic Committee.
The President of Indonesia NOC, Raja Sapta Oktohari, says talks between the two parties began at the beginning of the year and the cooperation was officially marked through the signing of the MoU on the sidelines of the ANOC General Assembly in Seoul last month.
“Hopefully, with this MoU, Indonesia's sporting achievements can become more global," Okto said.
The collaboration with Hungary NOC is part of the Indonesian Olympic Committee’s Champions Programme which was implemented before the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to help improve Indonesia’s sports achievements.
Similar partnerships have been signed with Qatar NOC, the International Judo Federation and FINA.
Okto explained that the NOCs of Indonesia and Hungary agreed to encourage the development of athlete training exchanges between the two national federations as well as officials, trainers, international technical officials, sports experts and sports scientists.
“Hungary has outstanding achievements in five sports, namely swimming, water polo, canoeing, fencing and wrestling. These five sports regularly won medals at the Olympics. We can take knowledge from them, and NOC Indonesia opens the door so that this legal umbrella can be utilized optimally by the National Federations,” said Okto.
NOC Hungary itself wants to learn from Indonesia in three sports, namely badminton, sport climbing and surfing.
This cooperation is effective from October 2022 to December 2026.
