Hong Kong rowing mourns founding president Bob Wilson

Hong Kong, China, November 8, 2022: The Hong Kong, China Rowing Association reports “with great sadness” that the founding president, Bob Wilson, has passed away peacefully as a result of complications following surgery. 

“The thoughts of everyone at HKCRA are with Bob's family and friends, and we extend our deepest condolences to them,” the rowing association posted.

“As a founding member of HKCRA, Bob was instrumental in developing rowing in Hong Kong.  

“We will always owe him a huge debt of gratitude for all he contributed. We will ensure that we have a gathering to share our many memories of Bob and to celebrate his life.”

Former Hong Kong national coach Chris Perry added: “So very sad to hear this news and deep condolences to family and the rowing community. 

“Bob recruited me to work in Hong Kong over 36 years ago and has been a friend and mentor throughout my career.”
