Tashkent, Uzbekistan, November 4, 2022: The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan was confident that more than 500 people will participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run on Saturday, November 5.
Organisers unveiling details of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, Fun Run said the event to be held near the Olympic and Paralympic Reserves College in the capital Tashkent would attract a fair-sized crowd as the country celebrates the showpiece event which will be held from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
“We are hopeful that more than 500 participants will turn up for this occasion which is open to all. It is only the second time that Uzbekistan is hosting this event – after the 2014 Incheon Games – and we are confident it will be a success,” said Oybek Kasimov, Secretary General of the Uzbekistan NOC at a press conference outlining the event at the NOC Headquarters.
The event will commence at 11am on Saturday and will be split into three races – 500 metres, one kilometre and 3 kilometres.
In a video message, the Deputy Secretary General of HAGOC and the Mayor of Hangzhou, Chen Weiqiang said: “The Fun Run is aimed at building anticipation to the Asian Games. Let’s run towards the future and where people are connected.”

The Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run is being held on the side-lines of the November 3-7 OCA Stage 2 Development Programme. It will only be the second Fun Run held outside China following the Cambodia NOC organised Fun Run during the OCA 41st General Assembly in Phnom Penh last month.
Also seated at the head table at the press conference were Shakhrillo Makhmudov, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Sports, Sherzod Tashmatov, Vice President, Uzbekistan NOC and Wissam Trkmani, OCA Director, Project and Administration Affairs.
