Uzbek Minister of Sport Adham Ikramov confident OCA Stage 2 Development Programme will benefit athletes in the region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, November 3, 2022: The Minister of Sport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Adham Ikramov, was convinced that sports in Asia will immensely benefit from the OCA Stage 2 Development Programme for coaches and referees, which began in the Uzbek capital on Thursday, November 3.

Welcoming all the top world-qualified instructors from the five sports that are part of Stage 2 – more than 200 coaches and referees who have gathered in Tashkent joined online from their respective training venues – the Minister lauded the move by the Olympic Council of Asia to the event attended by 12 NOCs from Central and South Asia.

“The Continent of Asia will get stronger with such great technical input from expert instructors in the five sports,” Ikramov pointed out. “It is a great honour for us to host our dear OCA brothers. I would also like to welcome all the coaching and refereeing instructors. Your knowledge and skill levels will help all of us improve.”

The Uzbek Minister of Sport, who was speaking at the Ministry of Sport in downtown Tashkent, also praised the NOCs from Central Asia and South Asia for grabbing this rare opportunity.

“While I’m grateful to our darling President (of the nation) Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his backing to sport, I must also mention that we are grateful for the Olympic Council of Asia, and its Director General Husain Al-Musallam, for his ever-present support,” Minister Ikramov mentioned.

All the international instructors from the five sports – boxing, judo, swimming weightlifting and wrestling – also spoke briefly with the common theme being thanking the Minister of Sport and the Uzbekistan NOC for pulling out all the stops for the November 3-7 course.

The Secretary General of the Uzbekistan NOC, Oybek Kasimov, in his turn said: “This wouldn’t have happened without the support of the OCA.”
