Kyrgyzstan NOC President visits IOC HQ

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, November 2, 2022: The President of NOC Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Mamytov, was welcomed to Olympic House in Lausanne by IOC President Thomas Bach during a visit from October 26-28 at the invitation of the IOC President.

Sadyr Mamytov thanked the IOC President for the invitation and for supporting the initiatives of Kyrgyzstan NOC by increasing the number of Olympic Solidarity scholarships for 2022-2024 and assisting in Olympic Solidarity programmes.

The NOC President reported on the efforts to attract local investment and form partnerships with the sports movement and also on the three-fold increase in Olympic Solidarity programmes, as well as the drafting of a new charter.

The IOC President thanked Sadyr Mamytov for the visit and congratulated him on the success of the Olympic Solidarity programmes by NOC Kyrgyzstan. He also praised Kyrgyzstan for the high performance of their athletes in international competition and wished them all success at Paris 2024.

The IOC noted the extensive Olympic Day celebrations conducted in Kyrgyzstan and also the educational lectures provided by Olympic weightlifting champion and national hero Kanybek Osmonaliev. They also welcomed the formation of an Athletes’ Committee and their work in gender equity.
