Hangzhou, China, November 1, 2022: One of the main venues for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China next year took another step on the road to hosting successful competitions.
From October 26-28, the Huanglong Sports Centre Stadium hosted the 53rd sports meet of the high school attached to Zhejiang University.
It was the first school sports event held in the Huanglong Sports Centre Stadium after its renovation for the Asian Games.
Huanglong, or Yellow Dragon, sports complex has a main stadium for football, a hall for gymnastics and an aquatic centre which will stage the water polo event at the Asian Games, which will take place from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
The main stadium passed its competition function acceptance test on June 27 after being inspected by the football technical delegates. This test included the condition of the main pitch, the athletics training field and all the associated rooms such as changing rooms and meeting rooms.
At the acceptance symposium, Wang Xiao, Director of the Sports Department of the Chinese Football Association, affirmed the pitch investigation and gave high recognition for the Asian Games reconstruction efforts.
He stressed: "At the next stage, the operation team of the Huanglong venue cluster will make preparations for invitational events and use these events to test the operation plan and design so as to fully prepare for the successful holding of the Hangzhou Asian Games."
These events included the recent high school meet at the main stadium.
