Oman Olympic Committee celebrates Omani Youth Day in North Al Batinah Governorate

Muscat, Oman, October 26, 2022: To celebrate Omani Youth Day, the Oman Olympic Committee, represented by Oman Sports and Active Society Committee, held a sports day in Sohar in the North Al Batinah Governorate.

Omani Youth Day falls on October 26 every year and, to mark the occasion, the Oman Olympic Committee, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Culture, Sports and Youth in the North Al Batinah region, organised an open day of sports for all members of the public.

The aim of the occasion was to highlight the importance and spreading awareness of practising sport for all and across all ages.

The event included many competitions, among them 3-on-3 basketball plus a basketball competition for people with disabilities, football, handball, beach volleyball, badminton, skateboarding and taekwondo. In addition a fitness programme, a first aid workshop specialising in sports injuries and a blood donation campaign also took place.

It was held in the Sports Complex at Sohar, under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah, and in the presence of many members of the Oman Olympic Committee. Prizes and rewards were distributed to participants.
