Sri Lanka NOC welcomes South Asia participation in 18th National Olympic Academy

Colombo, Sri Lanka, October 23, 2022: The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka will welcome participants from all South Asian NOCs to its 18th National Olympic Academy from December 1-4.

Applications are open for the key Olympic education programme run by the Sri Lanka NOC in collaboration with the IOC’s Olympic Solidarity programme and the Olympic Council of Asia in the picturesque hill station of Bandarawela, 184 kilometres from the capital Colombo.

“Apart from Sri Lanka, we expect the representation of young participants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indian, Pakistan, Maldives and Nepal. This is an academy which is held annually with the cooperation of Olympic Solidarity and the Olympic Council of Asia,” the Sri Lanka NOC said on its website.

This Olympic education programme will impart knowledge of Olympism, managing and administering sport, and physical education.

The Sri Lanka NOC has called for applicants from Primary school teachers and has asked schools to send two teachers each – one male and one female. The requirements include teaching school children aged between five and 14 years; and a good knowledge of English as this will be the language for group discussions with lecturers.

Applications should be sent to education@olympic.lk addressed to the Secretary General of the Sri Lanka NOC, Maxwell de Silva, with the closing date being October 31.
