Malaysian Prime Minister launches National Sports Day

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, October 16, 2022: The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, launched National Sports Day 2022 in a ceremony at Putrajaya on October 8.

He also launched the National Sports Vision 2030 initiated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia.

The Olympic Council of Malaysia was officially represented by its Vice President, Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt, who was accompanied by the two general managers of OCM, Mr. Fong Wan Hor and Mr. Norhashimi Hussain.

“National Sports Day, which is celebrated on the second Saturday of October every year, was first introduced by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2015, aiming to inculcate sporting culture and making Malaysia a sporting nation,” said Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt.

“The concept of National Sports Day is indeed in line with the Olympic Movement advocated by the OCM.

“On behalf of OCM and our President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, I would like to thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports for involving the OCM in the National Sports Day celebrations.”
