Asian Games badminton venue hosts fire safety drill

Hangzhou, China, October 16, 2022: In order to effectively implement fire safety, Binjiang Gymnasium and the Binjiang Fire Brigade jointly launched a fire emergency drill on the afternoon of October 12 in preparation for the 19th Asian Games.

Before the drill, a fire brigade officer delivered a lecture on fire safety with the theme of "four ways towards fire protection" to all the working personnel, and elaborated on the correct escape methods in case of a fire.

The drill included the advice for people to cover their nose with a wet cloth and to crouch down and move along a wall to escape the fire scene and move into a safe area.

Under guidance, venue staff were shown how to operate a powder fire extinguisher as part of the fire drill.

The practical operation improved the emergency handling ability of the staff. This fire drill helped to ensure the fire safety of the venue for Hangzhou Asian Games.

Binjiang Gymnasium, with its landmark "Lotus Bowl" design, will hold the badminton competition during the Hangzhou Asian Games from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
