OCA confirms nominations for ANOC ExCo elections in Seoul

Kuwait City, Kuwait, October 6, 2022: The Olympic Council of Asia has confirmed the nominations for the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Executive Council elections in Korea later this month.

The ANOC Executive Council is made up of 32 members elected by the five continental associations. The current term of office from 2018-2022 will come to an end in Seoul when the XXVI ANOC General Assembly takes place from October 18-21.

The OCA is nominating the President of Qatar Olympic Committee, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, as Vice President (Asia) and also as ANOC Senior Vice President – second in command of the organisation under the ANOC President.

The nominations for ExCo members are: Raja Randhir Singh (India), Timur Kulibayev (Kazakhstan), KhunyingPatama Leeswadtrakul (Thailand), Mikee Cojuangco Jaworski (Philippines) and Li Lingwei (China).

Three of the five delegates to represent Asia as ExCo members are women, highlighting the OCA commitment to gender equity, women’s empowerment and opportunity at the highest levels of the Olympic movement.

The OCA nominations for chairperson of ANOC Commissions are: Gender Equity Commission - HRH Prince Faisal bin Al-Hussein (Jordan); Events Commission - Timothy Fok (Hong Kong, China).

These nominations were confirmed by the OCA Acting President, Raja Randhir Singh, at the 41st OCA General Assembly in Cambodia on October 4.

“We look forward to working very closely with ANOC to ensure the welfare and interests of the National Olympic Committees and the rights of the athletes are protected,” Raja Randhir said.

He also stressed that the OCA was working in very close cooperation with the IOC, ANOC and other international sports organisations “under the same vision and mission” of a global sports strategy to ensure continued solidarity and unity among all stakeholders of the Olympic movement.
