Tashkent, Uzbekistan, October 6, 2022: The President of the International Judo Federation, Marius Vizer, has praised preparations for the 61st Judo World Championships which begin in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent on Thursday, October 6.

Vizer visited the Ministry of Sports Development earlier in the week and was met by the Minister of Sports Development, Adham Ikramov, Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee Secretary General Oybek Kasimov and the President of the Uzbekistan Judo Federation, Azizjon Kamilov.

Vizer gave the thumbs up for preparations for the showpiece and expressed satisfaction at the facilities for the 580 competitors from 90 countries who will take part in the October 6-13 event.

While Tashkent has been part of the IJF World Tour since 2013, it is the first time that the Central Asian nation will host the International Judo Federation’s main competition.

In turn, Adham Ikramov said preparations for the competition had been controlled by the Government and the expectations were to show “the potential of New Uzbekistan” to the whole world by holding the World Championships to the highest standards.

During the meeting there were discussions on further strengthening the cooperation between the IJF and the Uzbekistan Judo Federation.
