Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Tea Banh thanks OCA for trust and support

Phnom Penh, Cambodia, October 3, 2022: The Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, Tea Banh, has thanked the Olympic Council of Asia for the trust placed in the Cambodian Government and its people with the kingdom set to stage two major multi-sport games in the next six years.

Hosting a colourful gala dinner full of vibrant song and dance performances on Monday - the eve of the 41st OCA General Assembly  - the Deputy Prime Minister said the country was determined to host a successful Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and ASEAN Para Games 2023 and the OCA’s Asian Youth Games in 2029.

“I hope you will have confidence and trust in the certainty and strong commitment of the Royal Government and the Cambodian people who are striving to be successful hosts of the SEA Games-ASEAN Para Games 2023 and the Asian Youth Games 2029,” said Tea Banh, who is also the Minister of National Defence and Chairman of the Cambodian SEA Games and Para Games Organising Committee.

With the Acting President of OCA, Raja Randhir Singh, OCA Director General Husain Al-Musallam and several Presidents and Secretary Generals of Asian National Olympic Committees in attendance, Deputy PM Tea Banh thanked the OCA for its full support in hosting these two international sports events.

He also stressed how proud the country was to host the OCA General Assembly, the biggest sporting event ever held in the country.

“We are very proud to host this continental-level sports conference under the International Olympic framework and we will record this event as a historical moment,” added the Deputy PM.

The General Assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, October 4.
