Phnom Penh, Cambodia, September 28, 2022: The 41st Olympic Council of Asia General Assembly in Phnom Penh next week will be a “good opportunity to promote Cambodia’s hosting of the 2023 SEA Games” said a senior official of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia on Monday, September 26.

Cambodia is ready to host the Asian Olympic family when top officials from across the region arrive in the capital Phnom Penh this weekend for the 41st OCA General Assembly on October 3-4.

“We are expecting 400 attendees from Asia and around the world and we are ready to welcome them,” said National Olympic Committee of Cambodia Secretary General Vath Chamroeun.

“It will be a good opportunity to promote Cambodia’s hosting of the Southeast Asian Games in 2023 and the 5th Asian Youth Games in 2029,” Chamroeun added.

Acting OCA President Raja Randhir Singh and OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam will head a distinguished list of top officials from all 45 National Olympic Committees in Asia who will gather at the Sokha Hotel in Phnom Penh for the General Assembly on October 4. It will be preceded by the OCA Executive Board Meeting on October 3.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen is expected to be present for the opening ceremony of the 41st OCA General Assembly.

The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia in conjunction with the OCA and the Hangzhou Asian Games organisers will also hold the Asian Games Fun Run on October 2.

It will be the third major international gathering of sports officials in Cambodia this year, following two Southeast Asian Games Federation meetings in April and July this year. But in terms of numbers of countries and participants, next week will unveil the biggest sporting events to be hosted by Cambodia.

Cambodia will host the 11-nation SEA Games for the first time in its history from May 5-11, 2023.
