Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait praises OCA support to China’s sporting cause

Kuwait City, Kuwait, September 24, 2022: The Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait, Zhang Jianwei, has thanked the Olympic Council of Asia for its long-term support to China’s sporting cause, especially the strong support towards the holding of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Speaking at the one-year countdown ceremony to the Hangzhou Games on Friday, September 23, Ambassador Zhang noted that “China is willing to further deepen friendship and cooperation with the Olympic Council of Asia.”

The one-year countdown ceremony was marked by the OCA being presented with four stylish SUVs by Lynk & Co which is owned by Hangzhou-based Geely Auto Group. OCA Director General Husain Al-Musallam participated in the ceremony.

“It’s a great pleasure to attend the Lynk & Co delivery ceremony between Geely Group and the Olympic Council of Asia on the special day of the one-year countdown to the 19th Asian Games which will begin on September 23 next year in the beautiful city of Hangzhou, China,” noted Ambassador Zhang.

“I would like to thank the OCA for its long-term support to China’s sporting cause, especially its strong support for the holding of the Hangzhou Asian Games,” Ambassador Zhang said.

The Hangzhou Asian Games was originally scheduled to be held this year, but was postponed to 2023 due to COVID-19.

“I wish these Games a complete success with the support of the OCA and other parties, and wish the China-Kuwait strategic partnership greater development,” Ambassador Zhang added.

He also noted that the OCA’s choice of Lynk & Co as a working vehicle reflected the trust in Chinese cars.

“I think today’s event not only expresses support of Chinese automobiles in sport, but also reflects the richer practical cooperation between China and Kuwait and the vigorous development of bilateral relations,” Ambassador Zhang concluded.
