BOA sets up steering committee for Sheikh Kamal Bangladesh Youth Games

Dhaka, Bangladesh, September 20, 2022: A steering committee to oversee the Sheikh Kamal Bangladesh Youth Games was set up by the Bangladesh Olympic Association on Monday, September 19.

The decision was taken at the BOA’s executive committee meeting at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment with BOA President and Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed in the chair.

The State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell will serve as an advisor on the 21-member steering committee for the 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games to be held later this year or early in 2023.

BOA President General Shafiuddin and Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza were named as executive chairman and vice-chairman respectively, on the steering committee.

At the meeting, the BOA also handed over crests to the silver and bronze medallists of the archery team as well as the table tennis team that made it to the quarterfinals at the recent 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey.

Reports from the 2022 Commonwealth Games Chef de Mission, Abdur Rakib Montu, and the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games Chef de Mission, Dr. Siraj Uddin Alamgir, were presented at the meeting.

The BOA executive committee decided to implement the recommendations made in these reports.

The committee was also informed that the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou will now be held from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
