Amman, Jordan, September 3, 2022: The International Table Tennis Federation has selected the Jordanian capital of Amman to host the inaugural ITTF Summit this December.
Jordan was selected ahead of strong bids from seven other countries - Spain, Portugal, England, Italy, Argentina, Tunisia and Iraq - to host the groundbreaking ITTF Summit from December 4-6. The Jordanian bid had the full support of the Jordan Olympic Committee.
The ITTF Executive Committee decided earlier this week to award the hosting rights to Amman which will be the focus of the entire table tennis world after two years marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions.
“We are honoured that Jordan was chosen to host the most important meeting of the International Table Tennis Federation, and we are excited that the future of our sport will be shaped in the capital Amman,” said Tariq Al-Zoubi, President of the Jordan and West Asian Table Tennis Federations.
“Jordan Table Tennis Federation is ready to receive delegates from 226 national associations. We will ensure a comfortable experience for everyone and look forward to hosting the entire table tennis family in December,” he added.
It is anticipated the summit will see some key decisions made, including the host cities for the 2025 World Table Tennis Championships, the 2024 World Veteran Championships and the 2024 World Youth Championships.
