Legendary Uzbek gymnast Chusovitina donates leotard to IOC’s Olympic Museum

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, August 29, 2022: The International Olympic Committee on Sunday, August 28, has placed a leotard worn by legendary Uzbek gymnast Oksana Chusovitina as an exhibit at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Evergreen Uzbekistan gymnast Chusovitina donated the suit she wore at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics to the IOC who promptly placed it at the Olympic Museum which is visited by around 250,000 people annually. The museum was opened in 1993.

Chusovitina, 47, is an eight-time Olympic gymnast who has competed for the Soviet Union, Germany and now represents Uzbekistan. The only female gymnast to compete at eight Olympics, she hopes to make it nine by taking part at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Over an illustrious career spanning five decades, Chusovitina has won a cluth of international medals including an Olympic gold (1992 Barcelona for the Unified Team) and an Olympic silver (2008 Beijing for Germany), eight medals at the Asian Games including two gold, four silver and two bronze, and 11 World Championships medals, including three gold, four silver and four bronze.
