Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 18, 2022: There’s no doubting who is “The King” of the OCA diving youth camp in Kuala Lumpur this week – Malaysia’s very own Elvis!

Meet 16-year-old Elvis Priestly Anak Clement, one of six young divers from the host country whose name really grabs attention.

“My father gave me the name Elvis,” Elvis said. “But he did not want to copy the full name of Elvis Presley so he called me Elvis Priestly. I am used to it now. It’s normal for me.”

Young Elvis is from Sarawak, hence the additional name of Anak (child) when he writes his full name, while Clement is the family name.

Sarawak has also produced national team diver Pandelela Rinong, who has a silver and a bronze medal to her name from four Olympic Games appearances dating back to Beijing 2008 and is still in training for her fifth Olympics in Paris 2024.

Elvis Priestly hopes to be with her. “I dream about going to the Olympics one day,” he added.
