Konya, Turkey, August 15, 2022: His Excellency Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, President of the General Authority for Sports and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates NOC, has met with Mohammed Muharram Oglu, the Turkish Minister of Sports, to discuss ways to strengthen the bilateral partnership between the two countries.
The two senior sports officials met on Sunday, August 14, on the sidelines of the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya,
Turkey, to deliberate on building closer sporting ties between the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
Among the topics discussed were holding major sporting events in the two countries taking advantage of existing infrastructure and facilities available.
During the meeting, the UAE NOC Vice President said the Emirates was committed to the success of the Islamic Solidarity Games, implementing the vision of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE NOC.
Dr Ahmad Al Falasi also invited the Turkish Sports Minister to visit UAE during the inaugural Gulf Youth Games next year, and proposed that a Memorandum of Understanding on sports cooperation between the UAE and Turkey be signed at the time.
The meeting was also attended by Saeed Thani Hareb Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Turkey, Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Hussein, Secretary General of the General Body of Sports, and Engineer Azza Bint Suleiman, Assistant General Secretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the UAE NOC.
