Kuwait City, Kuwait, August 8, 2022: The Olympic Movement in Asia is back on the move!
This is the message from the Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Raja Randhir Singh, in the new edition of the OCA’s quarterly publication, Sporting Asia.
As well as welcoming the new dates for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in 2023, Raja Randhir points to the successful hosting of two major international multi-sport events in May and also the continent-wide Olympic Day activities of the National Olympic Committees.
The 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam and the 3rd Gulf Cooperation Council Games in Kuwait involved a total of 17 NOCs and 7,000 athletes – proof that Asia is bouncing back from two lost years due to the pandemic.
The new Sporting Asia contains 60 pages for the first time since its launch in 2009 to reflect the busy Olympic scene, with eight pages of reports, photos and facts and figures from both the SEA Games and GCC Games, plus six pages of Olympic Day festivities.
There is also a report on the OCA’s Development Programme for Coaches and Referees and notice of the Asian Youth Camp which is returning to the calendar after a two-year hiatus with a diving camp in Malaysia.
Sporting Asia – September 2022 contains all the regular features, such as NOC News in Pictures, Inside the OCA, Games Update, Women in Sport, News in Brief and the OCA Sports Calendar.
