Uzbek athletes given official send-off for 5th Islamic Solidarity Games

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, August 7, 2022: The national flag of Uzbekistan was handed over to the country’s sports delegation which will participate at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey.

At an official ceremony at the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan on Saturday, August 6, fencer Zainab Dayibekova and para table tennis player Rasul Atamuradov accepted the national flag on behalf of the 265-strong athletes contingent taking part at the August 9-18 Games.

Attending the ceremony was the advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdujabbar Abduvahidov, Minister of Sports Development Adham Ikramov, Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov and officials from the government and Uzbekistan NOC, including Secretary General Oybek Kasimov.

Abdujabbar Abduvahidov handed over the national flag to the two athletes. Following the short ceremony, the Uzbekistan contingent left for Tashkent International Airport to board their flight to Turkey.

A total of 55 countries are participating at the Islamic Solidarity Games.
