Kuwait City, Kuwait, July 31, 2022: The Olympic Council of Asia is delighted to announce that the Asian Youth Development Camp is back after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The youth camp focuses on a different sport each time and this year’s event will feature diving in one of Asia’s strongest diving nations, Malaysia.
The OCA Diving Youth Camp will take place from August 14-22 in Kuala Lumpur and will be the first such event since a swimming camp in Doha in November 2019. Due to the pandemic and ensuing travel restrictions and health protocols around the continent, it has been impossible to organise such a gathering for the past two years.
The youth camp is one of the most popular events for National Olympic Committees in the OCA’s Olympic Solidarity continental programme and is aimed at talented young athletes as well as coaches in some of Asia's most productive sports at Olympic Games and World Championship level.
The OCA invites each NOC to send one female athlete, one male athlete and one coach to the camp, and this year there is an added element with an invitation to diving judges, too.
With expert international coaches and instructors on hand, this keeps all the participants up to date with the latest diving techniques as well as the judging procedure.
To date there will be 61 participants from 16 NOCs from all five zones in the OCA.
The OCA Diving Youth Camp is being held in cooperation with Olympic Solidarity, FINA, the Olympic Council of Malaysia and the Malaysia Swimming Federation.
