Manama, Bahrain, July 23, 2022: The Bahrain Olympic Committee has submitted two examples of friendship in sport to the International Fair Play Committee (CIFP).
The IOC-recognised CIFP began a new initiative in 2022 called the Fair Play Calendar and asks NOCs and other sports bodies to submit examples of a specific theme each month to display in the calendar. These are then shared in order to promote fair play in sport around the world.
The theme for July is Friendship; other themes have included Solidarity and Integrity.
The BOC said: “Friendship is a principle of fair play and a bond that drives us to do our best to reach the top of the podium.
“Each month, one of the fair play values that matters to athletes and coaches and sports fans will be highlighted. So, check out this month’s edition of the 2022 Fair Play Calendar from the International Fair Play Committee.”
In introducing the Fair Play Calendar at the start of the year, the CIFP said: “Today, it is of paramount importance that these values are shared with athletes, especially young people, coaches, sport leaders and fans.
“Every month the International Fair Play Committee publishes and sends the images for that month, which can be freely used and shared.”
Since its foundation by UNESCO and a number of international sports governing bodies in Paris in 1963, the goal of the International Fair Play Committee is the worldwide defence and promotion of fair play.
