Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, July 12, 2022: The “Cooperation Without Borders” between Malaysia and Thailand has grown deeper with the close working relationship between the President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, and the IOC Member in Thailand, H.E. Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul.
The two sports leaders have established an excellent working relationship, not only between the two NOCs but also as president of the badminton federation in each country.
The OCM and NOC Thailand joined forces in their Olympic Day celebrations this year when the OCM President visited Thailand on May 28 and Madame Khunying attended the Malaysia celebrations virtually on June 23. This exchange was coordinated by the two NOCs.
In line with the above, the OCM President made a special trip to Bangkok in order to discuss further with Madame Khunying the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure mutual cooperation for future events and programmes.
“We are finalising the MOU between the OCM and the NOC Thailand and I am looking forward to seeking an appointment to sign the MOU with H.E. General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, who is the President of NOC Thailand,” said Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria.
Madame Khunying, who is Vice President of NOC Thailand, added: “On behalf of the Badminton Association of Thailand, under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King, we are also prepared to sign the MOU with the Badminton Association of Malaysia and to work together for the development of badminton in both countries.”
