Hangzhou, China, July 12, 2022: The Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre, one of the most eye-catching venues of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, has won the Excellence Award in the 49th IES Illumination Awards run by the New York-based Illuminating Engineering Society.
The sports centre, which is designed for the Asian Games shooting, archery and modern pentathlon competitions, was noted for its light and shadow effects in the sunshine, bringing out the dynamic beauty of sports.
The centre was inspired by the masterpiece Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains and blends in perfectly with the surrounding natural landscape.
The roof of the venue is shaped like a herringbone curved surface to resemble a mountain. In addition, 34,000 rotating aluminum alloy louvers were installed on the venue's east and south curtain walls, allowing for changes to the facade.
The annual IES Illumination Awards recognise individuals for professionalism, ingenuity and originality in lighting design. The awards will be presented on August 18 at the IES annual conference in New Orleans. Established in 1906, the IES is based on Wall Street, New York.
