India unveils official team kit for Commonwealth Games

New Delhi, India, July 8, 2022: Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur took part in the send-off ceremony of the Indian squad for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 in New Delhi on Thursday, July 7.

The event, which was organised by the Indian Olympic Association, also included the unveiling of the official kit of the Indian squad.

IOA President Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra, who was also present at the ceremony, later posted on his Facebook page: “Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Shri Anurag Thakur Ji today unveiled the official kit and sent off #TeamIndia for #CWG2022 with MoS (Minister of State) Shri Nisith Pramanik Ji and members of Indian Olympic Association in New Delhi.”

Tokyo 2020 Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia, P.R. Sreejesh, Manpreet Singh and Lovlina Borgohain were some of the star athletes present a the ceremony from among the 215-strong squad.

Other athletes present included Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik, sprint stars Dutee Chand and Hima Das, Asian Boxing Championships gold medallist Shiva Thapa and boxer Amit Panghal.

Speaking on the occasion, Sports Minister Thakur said the Indian CWG squad was the strongest ever and was confident all the athletes would make India proud yet again.

The Commonwealth Games will be held from July 28 to August 8 in Birmingham, central England.
