Yemen Olympic Committee holds anti-doping seminar for athletes bound for 5th Islamic Solidarity Games

Sana’a, Yemen, July 7, 2022: The Yemen Olympic Committee held an anti-doping seminar for athletes and coaches bound for the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in Konya, Turkey next month.

A total of 35 athletes and coaches in nine sports took part in the two-day anti-doping seminar held at the Yemen Olympic Committee headquarters in Sana’a last week.

The sports were archery, gymnastics, judo, karate, kickboxing, teqball, taekwondo, weightlifting and wrestling.

In attendance at the seminar was Secretary General of the Yemen Olympic Committee, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ahjri. Dr. Hossam Al-Senbani, head of the anti-doping committee, conducted the seminar informing the participants of the pitfalls of drug abuse and common mistakes made in ingesting over-the-counter drugs.

At the end of the seminar, the chairman of the Athletes’ Committee, Muhammad Al-Qarnas, and secretary general Amal Maddesh wished all the athletes success at the Islamic Solidarity Games which will be held from August 9-18.
