Thimphu, Bhutan, July 4, 2022: Bhutan’s first female boxer, Tandin Lhamo, successfully conducted a "Boxing for Girls – Inspiring the Next Generation" project at Chundu Central School in Haa, last week.

The initiative, specifically targeting young girls interested in pursuing a boxing career, was supported by the Olympic Council of Asia under its social development through Olympism programme.

More than 35 girls participated in the programme run by the former national boxer who currently owns a studio in the capital Thimphu. Lhamo represented Bhutan in a number of international competitions and also won a bronze medal at the 13th South Asian Games in Kathmandu in 2019.

She is the project brand ambassador for boxing and the Bhutan Olympic Committee hopes she will inspire young girls in Haa to take up the gloves.
