Kathmandu, Nepal, June 30, 2022: The President of the Nepal Olympic Committee, Hon. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, has been appointed as the new Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

In a reshuffle of the cabinet on Sunday, June 26, Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Debua appointed Shrestha as the new tourism minister of Nepal.

Shrestha’s appointment was greeted with universal joy amongst the Nepal sporting community with the NOC President being felicitated by a number of bodies including the National Olympic Committee, the Nepal Sports for All Commission and various Sports Federations.

Ashok Ratna Bajracharya, Vice President of Nepal Olympic Committee, congratulated Shrestha at a ceremony on Wednesday.

Shrestha has said that immediate steps will be taken to restore Nepal’s tourism sector which has been badly affected due to the pandemic. One of his first decisions was to set up a committee to look into ways to revive the industry – and he has given the committee a seven-day deadline to come up with proposals.
