Tashkent, Uzbekistan, June 27, 2022: Uzbekistan and Argentina have agreed to forge closer sporting ties in football after senior Uzbek sports officials met the Argentine ambassador to Uzbekistan in the capital Tashkent last week.

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Sports Development Adham Ikramov received Argentina’s ambassador to Uzbekistan Eduardo Antonio Zuain - who is based in Moscow and was on a visit to the country – and the main topic of discussion was the prospects of cooperation between the two countries in sport.

Also attending the meeting were Secretary General of the Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee, Oybek Kasimov, and First Deputy Chairman of the NOC and First Vice President of the Football Association of Uzbekistan, Ravshan Irmatov.

The Minister of Sports Development noted that Argentina has achieved a lot in sports, especially in football, and believed Uzbekistan can learn and benefit from that experience.

Ravshan Irmatov also concurred and called for more friendly matches between the national football teams of both countries and the exchange of technical expertise between the two nations.

In response Ambassador Zuain expressed his support for the proposals and said he would push for more cooperation in football between Argentina and Uzbekistan.
