Bangladesh Olympic Association to compete in seven sports at CWG 2022

Dhaka, Bangladesh, June 21, 2022: The third meeting of the Bangladesh Olympic Association’s executive committee was held recently at Army Multipurpose Complex, Dhaka Cantonment with Chief of Army Staff, Bangladesh Army and BOA President General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed in the chair.

A number of decisions were taken at the meeting, among them finalising plans for the Bangladesh contingent at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, as well as the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey in August.

Bangladesh will compete in seven sports at the Commonwealth Games from July 28 to August 8, and participate in 11 sports at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya from August 9-18.

A steering committee was also established for the Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games which will be held in Dhaka and run from October this year to March next year.

In order to facilitate the daily activities of the Bangladesh Olympic Association, a total of nine sub-committees were also set up: sports and environment; women’s commission; sport for all; federation coordination; athletes; laws, regulation and discipline; marketing and sponsorship; culture and Olympic heritage; and international relations.

These nine new sub-committees will join the six sub-committees set up in March at the second ex-co meeting of the BOA.

An election will also take place to elect two executive committee members of the BOA in the categories of multi-games and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
