Laos NOC to mark Olympic Day 2022 in Luang Prabang province

Vientiane, Laos, June 18, 2022: The National Olympic Committee of Laos will celebrate Olympic Day 2022 with a sports event in Luang Prabang on June 24.

The NOC has announced that it will hold an Olympic Day fun run/walk and also a cycling event to promote the general wellbeing of the population and encourage a healthy lifestyle.

The first 15 people to finish the run/walk will receive a medal and certificate while the top 20 in the cycling race will receive the same awards. All participants will be presented with an Olympic Day participation certificate in appreciation of their contribution to the global celebration marking the 128th anniversary of the founding of the modern Olympic movement.

The event will start at 6.0 am on June 24 in front of the Royal Palace in Luang Prabang city – capital of Luang Prabang province in northern Laos.

Organisers add that a basketball tournament will take place in the night market which will complete the Olympic Day festivities.

Registration will run from June 20-24 and a limited number of Olympic Day souvenir T-shirts are available.

The event is being held by the NOC of Laos in collaboration with the Department of Education and Sport of Luang Prabang Province.
