Muscat, Oman, June 15, 2022: The Oman Olympic Committee has been successful in securing financial grants from the International Olympic Committee for nine athletes to prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The support for the nine athletes in four sports - athletics, swimming, shooting and weightlifting - was made possible through the IOC’s Olympic Solidarity programme for National Olympic Committees.

The nine athletes are: Mubeen Al-Kindi, Ali Al-Balushi, Hussein Al-Farsi, Muhammed Al-Sulaimani and Fateh Beit Ja’Boub (all athletics); Al Anoud Al-Khalili (shooting); Abdul Rahman Al-Kulaibi and Issa Al-Adawi (swimming); Amer Al-Khanjari (weightlifting).

“The grants provided by the IOC Olympic Solidarity programme aim to assist athletes who are selected by the National Olympic Committee. The funds will be used for preparation and qualification for the Paris Olympics,” the Oman Olympic Committee said in a statement.

This is the first time that the IOC has supported as many as nine athletes from Oman. At previous Olympics, the IOC has given five Olympic Solidarity scholarships.
