Manila, Philippines, June 2, 2022: President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the recognition of Filipino medalists in the recently concluded 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
In a ceremonial event at Malacañang Palace on May 31, the President conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the rank of Kamagi to the medalists and turned over the incentives to the athlete representatives. He also received the national team jacket from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
The Philippines won a total of 226 medals in the 31st SEA Games, finishing in fourth spot among 11 nations.
More than 200 medaled athletes received their incentives via Republic Act No. 10699, or the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act.
The Philippine Sports Commission posted: “The country’s success in the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games is not an overnight process.
“It is a product of long years of hard work and sacrifice among national athletes, coaches, officials and other stakeholders."
