Tashkent, Uzbekistan, May 6, 2022: The Uzbekistan government and National Olympic Committee are looking forward to even more cooperation with the Olympic Council of Asia following the successful hosting of the 77th OCA Executive Board meeting in Tashkent on Friday.
Adkham Ikramov, Minister of Sport Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chief Guest at the meeting, said the sporting community in Uzbekistan was eager to host more OCA events in the country.
Welcoming delegates, Ikramov said the timing of the Executive Board meeting was significant as “30 years ago, the Olympic movement was initiated in this country. We wish you fruitful discussions as we look forward to meeting you more and more in our country.”
His words were echoed by special guest Abdujabar Abduvakhitov, advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who wishing delegates a successful meeting said “Uzbekistan is interested in having more interaction with all of you.”
“The President of Uzbekistan has undertaken great reforms in the country and all of us are interested in further developing sports because we are interested in the health of our people. In this light, we are happy to see all of you here so we can create a new climate of interaction and cooperation,” advisor Abduvakhitov added.
Acting OCA President Raja Randhir Singh and OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam exchanged souvenirs and gifts with the Uzbek officials.
