Uzbekistan President issues Asian Games Resolution

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, May 5, 2022: The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has signed a Resolution on the comprehensive training of Uzbek athletes for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

The 21-point resolution is to ensure comprehensive training and successful participation of Uzbek athletes and to provide financial support to athletes who win gold, silver and bronze medals in order to strengthen and further develop the Olympic movement in Uzbekistan.

The resolution was issued on May 5 and includes increasing the number of professional athletes of the Uzbek sports delegation from 30-35 at the previous Asian Games by 50 per cent. 

They also aim to increase productivity in the following sports: shooting, athletics, rowing, cycling, handball, rugby, basketball 3x3 and water sports, as well as in paragliding, parachuting and traditional martial arts.

The resolution also includes personalised nutrition, training workload and psychological training for each individual athlete and the involvement of foreign coaches and specialists such as sports pharmacologists, nutritionists and psychologists.

The resolution stipulates the prize money from the state budget for medal-winning athletes at the Asian Games: USD 5,000 for a gold medal, USD 3,000 for silver and USD 2,000 for bronze. 

The coaches will receive USD 2,500 for gold, USD 1,500 for silver and USD 1,000 for bronze.

Other specialists, including doctors, nutritionists and masseurs, who trained Uzbek athletes will receive USD 2,000 for gold, USD 1,000 for silver and USD 500 for bronze.

There will also be an additional one-time cash prize from the local budget for the athletes and trainers in the following amounts: for athletes, 300 times the basic calculation for gold, 200 times the basic calculation for silver and 100 times for bronze.

For coaches who trained the successful athletes: 200 times the basic calculation for gold, 100 times for silver and 50 times for bronze. 

NOTE: The President’s Resolution also applies to the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou which is not under the jurisdiction of the Olympic Council of Asia.
