Colombo, Sri Lanka, May 5, 2022: The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka is conducting an island-wide children's art competition as part of the Olympic Council of Asia's "Asian Games For All" project.
The competition is for children aged 13 and under and is being held held to celebrate the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Sri Lanka NOC has asked students “to express your imagination and understanding of the Hangzhou Asian Games and to show your support for your favourite athletes in Sri Lanka or to draw your favourite sport.”
A Fun Run to mark the Asian Games will also be held with details to be announced shortly by Sri Lanka NOC.
The announcement calling for entries for the art competition stated the "Asian Games For All" project aims to engage Asian society and give everyone the chance to be involved in the Asian Games.
The NOC set out a timeline for the competition with online registration ending on Sunday, May 8, followed by an online briefing about the contest on May 9. Participants will have to submit their paintings/drawings by May 13 with the best 50 entries announced on May 17.
This will be followed by an online workshop for the selected 50 children on May 19. The Sri Lanka NOC will then announce the top paintings/drawings – five boys, five girls – on May 21.
The top 10 entries will be sent to the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee to select the best four - two boys and two girls - to be displayed during the Asian Games.
