Tashkent, Uzbekistan, May 4, 2022: The Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Raja Randhir Singh, arrived in Tashkent on Wednesday, May 4, ahead of the OCA Executive Board meeting on Friday.
The 77th OCA EB meeting will coincide with the 30th anniversary celebrations of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.
The distinguished guest was welcomed at the Tashkent International Airport - named after former President Islam Karimov - by Minister of Sports Development Adham Ikramov, OCA Vice President Otabek Umarov, NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov and Deputy Chairman Azizjon Kamilov.
“We have come to hold a regular meeting of the Executive Board of the Olympic Council of Asia and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan with our friends,” Raja Randhir said.
“At the meeting of the Executive Board we will discuss plans for the upcoming Asian Games. We will exchange views on the prospects of the Olympic movement on our continent.
“First of all, I would like to congratulate President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the achievements of your country in the field of sports. We have very close cooperation with the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan. During our visit, we will also consider plans for the IV Asian Youth Games in Tashkent in 2025,” Raja Randhir added.
It should be noted that the meeting of the OCA Executive Board is being held in Tashkent for the first time. It will discuss the organizational issues of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games and of the Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games due to be held this December. The agenda also includes a presentation on the preparations for the IV AYG Tashkent 2025.
Representatives from about 30 countries will take part in the event, which will discuss important issues related to sports on the continent.
