POA President congratulates 12 Olympic Solidarity scholarship athletes for Paris 2024

Lahore, Pakistan, May 3, 2022: Olympic scholarships have been awarded to 12 Pakistani athletes by IOC Olympic Solidarity to train and prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Pakistan Olympic Association said the scholarships are designed for elite athletes who are training and attempting to qualify for  Paris 2024.

President of the Pakistan Olympic Association, Lt. Gen. (retd) Syed Arif Hasan, congratulated and wished all the athletes and respective National Sports Federations a very successful training and qualification campaign for the Paris Olympics.

The 12 athletes are: Arshad Nadeem (athletics), Mahoor Shahzad (badminton), Usman Chand, Gulfam Joseph, Anna Ibtisam, Kishmala Talat, Rasam Gull (all shooting),  Jehanara Nabi (swimming), Perniya Zaman Khan (table tennis), Muhammad Noor Dastgir Butt (weightlifting), Muhammad Bilal and Muhammad Inam (wrestling).

Each athlete will be awarded a grant of US$650 per month. The Olympic scholarship began on January 1, 2022, and will be divided into separate terms of four months each until August 31, 2024.

The scholarships will be activated as soon as the contract agreements of the scholarships are signed by the athletes, national federations, the Pakistan Olympic Association and Olympic Solidarity.
