Muscat, Oman, May 2, 2022: The Oman Olympic Committee has announced that it will be sending a 130-strong contingent, including 83 athletes, to the third GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) Games in Kuwait from May 13-31 to compete in nine of the 16 sports on the programme.
The announcement was made at a recent meeting at the Oman Olympic Academy presided over by OOC Secretary General Taha bin Suleiman Al Kishry. The managers of all the participating sports teams were present.
The nine sports Oman will take part in are: athletics, basketball (3x3), esports, futsal, karate, padel, shooting, swimming and volleyball.
The official delegation to Kuwait will be headed by OOC President Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Zubair and include Secretary General Al Kishry, Board member Dr. Mansoor Al Toqi and Chef de Mission Ali Al Busafi.
Details of the Sultanate’s participation in the GCC Games were reviewed during the meeting including health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and measures to ensure the safety of the Omani contingent.
