Uzbekistan NOC honours veteran sports coaches in the country

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, April 30, 2022: The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan has honoured veteran coaches who have served in the development of physical culture and sport in the country ahead of the Day of Remembrance and Respect on May 9.

Financial assistance was provided to 83 veteran coaches at the event held on Friday, April 29, and initiated by the Uzbekistan NOC, the Wrestling Association of Uzbekistan and the Council of Sports Veterans of Uzbekistan.

It was attended by NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee Sherzod Tashmatov, Chairman of the Council of Sports Veterans of Uzbekistan Bahodir Makhsitov, NOC staff and the ‘golden gene pool’ of Uzbek sports.

In his opening address, Secretary General Kasimov said: “We are pleased to see our dear teachers and veterans once again at the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of you on the upcoming holidays. We wish you all good health, long life, family peace and tranquillity.”

Tashmatov highlighted the contribution of the veterans to the success of Uzbek sports, saying: “Your hard work is behind the great victories we are achieving today. With the foundation stone you laid in your time, we are now conquering such peaks. We thank all of you once again for this.”

Gifts were handed over to the veterans at the end of the ceremony.
