Sports Minister presents national flag to Malaysia NOC for SEA Games participation

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 29, 2022: The flag handover ceremony for the Malaysian contingent to the 31st SEA Games Vietnam 2021 next month was held on Wednesday, April 27 at the National Sports Council, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. 

The Olympic Council of Malaysia Executive Board members present were Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria (President), Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt (Vice President), Dato’ Paduka Nur Azmi Ahmad (Vice President & Chef de Mission) and Datuk Mohd Nasir Ali (Assistant Treasurer). 

Also present were Mr. Melvin Chia See Oon and Mdm. Afrita Ariany Nasril (Deputy Chefs de Mission), Dato’ Jana Santhiran Muniayan (Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports), Dato’ Ahmad Shapawi Ismail (Director General of the National Sports Council) and Mr. Ahmad Faedzal Md Ramli (Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Institute).

Y.B. Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Minister of Youth and Sports, urged all athletes to give their best performance. He said: “This is the time for all of you to showcase your capabilities and bring glory to Malaysia.”

The event continued with the Sports Minister handing over the Jalur Gemilang to the Chef de Mission, Dato’ Paduka Nur Azmi Ahmad, who then presented it to the flag bearer, Olympian Nur Dhabitah Sabri, who will compete in diving women’s 1m springboard and 10m platform synchronized events. 

The ceremony ended with an oath taking led by the athlete Mohd Juwaidi Marzuki, who will be competing in archery men's compound individual/team/mixed team events.

The 31st SEA Games will take place in Hanoi and 11 neighbouring cities and districts from May 12-23 with the participation of 11 NOCs in the southeast Asia region.
