Shantou 2021 begins drive to recruit 10,000 volunteers for Asian Youth Games

Shantou, China, April 18, 2022: The Shantou Executive Committee of the 3rd Asian Youth Games (SECAYG) held a series of events to mark the start of volunteer recruitment on April 15.

These included a launch ceremony of the volunteer management system, the unveiling of the volunteer logo and story-telling by core volunteers for the OCA’s 3rd AYG, which will take place in Shantou, Guangdong province from December 20-28, 2022.

Huang Yusheng, Deputy Director of SECAYG, and Xu Qi, Director of SECAYG's Volunteers Department, together with volunteer representatives jointly launched the volunteer management system to signal the start of volunteer recruitment.

The volunteer logo for the Games was also unveiled. Comprising two main elements - loving heart and volunteer - the logo is designed to demonstrate the importance of volunteering, to exhibit the sincerity and warm-heartedness of volunteers and to encourage the general public to take part and contribute to the development of the city and the AYG.

As an important visual element of the Games' visual identity system, the volunteer logo has been approved and confirmed by the OCA.

In the coming weeks and months, the logo will be widely used in the volunteer recruitment programmes and volunteering activities of the Shantou 2021 AYG to convey the "Passion in Action" volunteering spirit to the public and to attract more like-minded people to take part. It is certain that, through volunteering, people are able to achieve happiness and personal growth.

Shantou 2021 AYG plans to recruit a total 10,000 Games volunteers who will be assigned to various venue teams and the Athletes Village.

These volunteers will provide voluntary services in the areas of protocol reception, arrival and departure, language services, sports, competition venue operation, press operation and cultural activities among other fields.
