Maldives NOC announces Commonwealth Games appointments

Male, Maldives, April 18, 2022: The Maldives Olympic Committee has announced the appointment of medical and media officials for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games this summer.

The medical officials are Abdulla Rafiu and Lubana Shah. The medical team plays a key role at any major Games and the experienced duo will take the lead on all medical services for Team Maldives.

The medical officials have prior experience at major international tournaments and with elite athletes, as well as travelling with teams to support their performance. Their main responsibility will be to help athletes reach and maintain their peak performance.

Further appointments to Team Maldives for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games include Azzam Ali Fulhu as Press Attaché. Azzam will be responsible for media relations, which includes providing the best possible profile and exposure of Team Maldives, events and the athletes.

Azzam has previously collaborated with MOC as a media official at the 2016 and 2019 South Asian Games.

Birmingham 2022 will create a myriad of memorable moments, from records being broken to the highs and lows of athletes competing across a number of events. The role of a Press Attaché is crucial for reporting on the Games to provide the best and most accurate information promptly.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games will run from July 28 to August 8 in Birmingham in the English Midlands.
