Budapest, Hungary, April 12, 2022: Kazakhstan and Thailand will represent Asia in the women’s water polo tournament at the 19th FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary in June.
FINA announced the four groups of four teams on April 12 for the June 18-July 3 world championships.
Kazakhstan, with Asian Games silver in 2010 and 2018 and bronze in 2014, will play Brazil, New Zealand and Australia in Group C in Sopron.
Thailand, who finished fourth on their Asian Games debut in women’s water polo in Indonesia four years ago, have been drawn in Group D with France, Greece and Spain in Szeged.
China have won all three gold medals in Asian Games women’s water polo since it joined the programme at Guangzhou 2010.
